Santa Anita Late Pick 3 and 4

Race 6- The obvious pick is the 2 Aquaphobia, I also like the 8 Conquest Sabre Cat and the 9 Kristi’s Copilot if you can spend.

Race 7- 2, 4, 6, 9 in the second leg. No super strong feelings here, but i’ll lean to 6 Taylorealswift.

Race 8- I’m taking the #5 Sense of Glory to wire the field. Protect with 4, 10, 11.

Race 9- I like the #2 Tell me more. I’ll protect with 11, 5, 6, 8 in that order if you have to narrow.

 

 

 

Santa Anita Late Pick 5 and 4

Race 5 – I’m picking #3, 1 and 9 in this race. #3 Dark Vader is a hard trying type that just may be able to plug away in the stretch, he continues to improve. Looking for anything that may help one of these horses improve 1 Ayacara is adding blinkers a good improve angle. 9 Blame the Rider has improved in 2 consecutive starts and at 15-1 on the morning line hey why not?

Race 6- A wild toss up here as far as I’m concerned I’ll use a bunch and try to get through. No strong feelings. Picks are 6, 8, 3, 2. Or hit all and get thinner later.

Race 7- Can’t get past the two best here. I’ll take 5 Itsinthepost to defeat 4 Isotherm. Itsinthepost is in top form while Isotherm is 2nd off for a top trainer.

Race 8 –  Top of the Game to win the 8th, Cerin is having a good meet and he could be primed for a big effort. I also like Pavel for a bounce back effort. If you can cover yourself with 3 Accelerate.

Race 9 – I really like the 11 Bowie here I may single or add the 8 Beau Square.

Del Mar November 26, 2017

Race 6

#4 Secret Touch goes from route to a sprint for a barn that does well with this kind. Fit enough to drill 4 times since the last race and 2nd off the layoff. Maybe he can get over the top today.  I’ll put him up top with the #6 Desert General the #9 Divisor and the #5 Upperclassman underneath.

Race 7

Am I a bit dazzled by the performance of #12 Kitten’s Roar in the Goldikova G2, maybe. I’m not thrilled about the 12 post here but Velazquez has been riding this track very well this meet including on Breeders Cup day. I’ll hope he can put him in a decent place and then let the horse do the rest. #7 Cambodia will be tough if he runs back to his performances of late. His speed figures are a bit light but I think the #9 Rubilinda can get into the mix in this race with a little improvement which is not out of the question for this lightly raced 3 year old.

Race 9

I think #9 Inscom can win this race, he has the positional speed to get out of the gate well and sit a nice stalking trip. I’ll box him with the #5 Armour Plate who looks to be steadily  improving.

Del Mar November 25, 2017

Race 4

#2 Spanish Hombre takes another crack at this level after beating easier in the last. He has a win over this track and distance and keeps Bejarano who knows what he’s capable of. I’ll pick him to win this race. I’ll put the #12, 9, 8, 6 underneath.

Race 5

#4 Prime Attraction may just be able to wire the Native Diver G3 Stakes. He was scratched from the Hollywood Turf Cup in favour of running here so the connections have faith he can handle the dirt. Won his maiden race over this track a year ago at a mile. #5 Irish Freedom has had good results over the Del Mar main track and should give a good account of himself today. #1 Mubtaahij is the class of the field but his running style may not be suited to this track. Perhaps if he stays closer he can make one run and cruise past this field in the stretch.

Race 7

Tough to ignore the #4 Sharp Samurai in this race after 4 wins in a row. This runner has positional speed that will allow him to be where the running is good. Could #7 Mo Town have figured something out in that last run? Maybe but i’m going to be passing myself. #3 Channel Maker is one I know well from Woodbine he ran wide most of the last race so better positioning in this race may be helpful I could see him getting in the mix late. The horse i’m taking a long look at is the #6 Super Tapit, he beat the above horse in the G3 Marine last year at Woodbine and that recent run was better than it looked. The price should be right, third off the layoff and Casse is as sharp as they come.

Race 2

#1 Pomp and Party looks to be spotted correctly in this claimer. He has been working regularly with six trials since his last race for a trainer who gets good results from sprinters. The switch to Elliot is a positive for this trainer. I’ll take him with the 4, 5 and 6 underneath.

Race 7

The Hollywood Turf Cup has a few solid runners listed. I think the #3 Flamboyant will go off as the favorite in this race and he has his claims coming out of the Grade 1 Canadian International. I watched this one live and it was clear that the extreme wind turned a lot of the better runners off in this race. Bullards Alley freaked and won by over 10 lengths and then came back to run a respectable 6th in the Breeders Cup Turf at Del Mar. Oscar Nominated did not run well out of this race in the Red Smith at Aqueduct. Chicago Style has won 2 of 2 at Del Mar and may win this one as well. My choices are #8 Manitoulin and #2 Lottie. Manitoulin has been running hot and in the latest lost all chance running wide throughout. He may be a threat to win this with a better trip and Mike Smith aboard. I also kinda like Lottie even though she is taking on the boys. She ran an even 3rd in her last behind a very powerful Apple Betty but notice she finished 5 3/4 in front of the 4th place finisher. Motion obviously did not like the outside post in the race she scratched from yesterday and this handicapper liked her in that one even from the outside post so confidence is there from the trainer. I’ll play the two in a box and mix them in with the 4, 3, 1.

Race 5

I’m tipping #1 Majestic Eagle to win this race at a price. Fit enough to drill 3 times since the defeat at Santa Anita in October he gets 1st time Lasix and the recent drill looks improved. He gets a positive weight shift for what that’s worth.

Race 6

Hard to look past the #7 Responsibleforlove in race 7. I’ll use the #8 Do the Dance and the #5 La Manta Gris with her in my ex and tri bets.

Race 7

I’m going to play #5 Phantom Opening, she won her maiden race 2nd off the layoff and comes back 2nd off the layoff today. She has recently shipped West which is an angle I like and she closed well in her most recent race. I’ll play her on top with the 10, 2 and 6 underneath.
